I have been in India for two weeks already! Wow!! I feel like I just got here a few days ago; yet at the same time, I feel like I have been here for 2 months already. It's a strange mix of feelings. I am very comfortable when I come and go to work, and even when I am walking to go out to dinner. I do not feel different; I do not feel like a minority. But, I am. I know I am, but I'm ok with it, I feel accepted. Like I said, it’s a strange mix. I have been adapting very well to the local customs, at least I think. I try not to stand out, but it’s hard. I am a 6 foot, 4 inch tall white guy in India - of course I am going to stand out. It is quite evident in the elevator. Side note - almost all the elevators here have mirrors around the whole inside. Well, when I am in a full elevator, everywhere I look, I see my face over top of all the other people's head in the elevator. It’s a bit awkward and funny at the same time. But, Steve is as tall as I am, so it’s not too bad. I have someone else as tall as me for people to look at.
So, after 2 weeks, I am glad to report that all is good on the Indian Front.
