R.E.M.

I am just waiting for Madonna, Ricky Martin, and maybe even some Paula Abdul.  Wait, no I'm not.  Time to go find my mp3 player and listen to some current music.  Oh whoever is reading this; if there are any new songs that I should hear, please let me know.  I am a little bit out of the pop-culture circle, and don't want to come back to the US and miss all the songs of the summer.  :p

Pop-culture aside, we did have a nice (American) weekend.  Friday night, we got back from work and decided to just hang out at the hotel.  We were tired from our first week, and a night of watching TV was quite fitting.  But, as the night hours rolled on by, we were getting hungry. I called over to the others rooms around 8:30P.  (Yes, we just call room to room, why get up when the phone is right there?)  Well, Larissa wasn't hungry and didn't want to go out; Steve said he would go in about an hour; and Matt said he just wanted to lie down for a minute and then wanted to go with us.  I don't know where the time went, but we didn't try to leave until 10P.  By that time, Matt was too lazy to get out of bed, and it turns out, he was quite tired.  So, Steve and I left for polynation at 10:30P (the food court at the mall 5 minutes away) and we got some Chinese and ...  dun dun dun dahhh... ICE CREAM! haha.  Yeah, there was an ice cream place called Cream and Fudge.  But, going by the menu, I would call it Coldstone Creamery.  I should know, I worked at coldstone for a year, I remember the menu.  Cream and Fudge had 90% of the exact same creations that Coldstone had.  So, needless to say, it was quite good.   When we got back, we woke Matt up to tell him about our momentous find.  We thought he was awake, but when we talked to him Saturday morning, he told us about the crazy dream he had where he thought we found ice cream.

It was no dream we told him, we found a Coldstone replica here in India.   Now we had to take Matt and Larissa there for lunch to get some ice cream.  Before we left the hotel, Sandesh came to join us for lunch and then take us out afterwards.

After lunch at polynation, we went to Total (not the cereal, but another shopping center) to meet Tanurima and one of her friends.   It was another relaxing day, we walked around a bit, shopped a bit, and then sat at a little coffee shop and talked for almost 3 hours.  It was late and time to come home.  But before we came home, we found a McDonalds! More American food! ...or so we thought.  The only thing the same was the french fires.  The Big Mac was two chicken patties, and there was a McCurry! hmm... ok, let’s try it anyway.

On Sunday, I slept in until 11:30.  I think that means I am over jet lag.  So, Sunday we woke up, and went to polynation for lunch.  It really is a nice place.  Well, more than just one place.  It’s a food court, and there is like 10 different kinds of foods to eat.   So, don't think I am going to one place all the time, we mix it up.

After lunch, we came home and were just going to chill out for the rest of the night, but Sandesh and one of his friends came to take us somewhere.  Oooh, adventure time!  It wasn't much of an adventure, but we did go to a really cool place.  It was a local coffee shop/hookah lounge.  It was full of people our age, regardless of race, we fit in.  Also, there was a table of Americans too, so we felt almost at home.  I plan on going back there; it was only a 20 minute walk away.

That was the weekend. Monday morning came all too soon for me.  I woke up this morning wondering where the night went.  I remember falling asleep and 5 minutes later I woke up to my alarm; but somehow it was the whole night that passed.  After breakfast and a quick shower, I was out the door and on my way to work.

Well, time to go and start work today.  I will post more soon. Also, check out some of my older posts - I am adding some pictures.
